1. What happens on the day at Skirmish Paintball Games?
Morning
A day at Skirmish begins at 09:00 where you will first meet our trained staff and begin the important registration and sign in process*, after which you will be kitted out with the majority of your kit to help you through the day, including a set of camouflage overalls, goggles, and battle pack. Body armour is also available on request, and is given to women and children as standard (please note that during peak times body armour demand can exceed our supply, whilst we make every effort to ensure everyone who wants it, gets it, this can sometimes not be the case). Don’t worry that you haven’t got the guns yet – they come later!
*If you want to save time at this point of the day, our disclaimers are available to download from here, allowing you to fill out your details at your own leisure and just turn up on the day with no paperwork to fill out!!
After this you will be introduced to your marshals, and be told who you will be playing with, and given a comprehensive safety briefing by one of your marshals, detailing all the site rules and regulations, explaining how the guns work and also to answer any questions you may have about your day. At this point if your package does not include lunch it is important you order it before you set out for your first games, as orders after this point cannot be accepted.
Your marshals will then lead you out to your first set of games, and will stay with you throughout your day at Skirmish to ensure that not only are games played the way they are meant to be, but also to ensure that all players are as safe as possible at all times. Your safety is our highest priority at Skirmish and so if you have any doubts or feel unsafe in any way please don’t hesitate to speak to your marshals who will be happy to help in any way they can.
Lunch
After around 6 action packed games, you will come in around 12:30 to enjoy your lunch and have a well deserved rest. This time is your own to relax and have a chat about the morning’s games and prepare for the rest of your day.
Afternoon
After you have had your lunch your assigned marshals will take you back out onto the fields, where you will have the opportunity to play new games in different fields and continue battle with the other side! Once you have played your afternoon’s games you will return to the safe zone and de-kit, at which point you are free to leave – hopefully having had a fantastic day with your friends and having shot the other team more than they shot you!
Throughout your day at Skirmish you will find yourself in many settings – a killing house where you need to defend your house against the attackers at all costs, attacking a fort through the undergrowth, or even just running around shooting as many people as possible on one of our Speedball fields! Every game has been designed to offer new challenges and opportunities from the ground up to give you maximum enjoyment and to really get your blood pumping!
2. Is paintball safe?
Like any other activity sport, there is always a risk. However if you observe all the safety regulations & follow all the Marshals' instructions then the worst that will happen will be a few bruises to show off the next day.
3. Does it hurt?
The short answer is: Yes It Stings! depending on the distance from which you are shot. Fortunately, it isn't as bad as one thinks, the easy answer is try not to get shot.4. What time do I have to arrive?
The arrival time for a full days play is 9:00 am please make sure that you arrive at 9:00 am prompt. A Half Days play arrival time is 9:00 am for a AM session or 12:30 pm for a PM session please make sure that you arrive prompt. All times are approximate and can be change to suit your groups requirements.
5. What do I need to bring on the day?
Players should wear comfortable clothing for the weather conditions, jogging bottoms, a long sleeved t-shirt/jumper and a pair of boots or old trainers. Gloves are available to buy at the centre, or you can bring your own thin pair. You may also want to bring some money for purchasing additional paintballs drinks & snacks.
6. Are there any safety rules?
Yes. As with any activity sport there are a number of safety rules, all of which will be explained to you in the Safety Briefing at the beginning of your days play.
7. Can I bring my own paintballs?
Just like you can’t take your own food to a restaurant, you cannot bring your own paintballs to the centre. You can only use paintballs issued by Skirmish on the day of your event. If any person is found using non Skirmish issued paintball they will be asked to leave.
8. How many paintballs will I need?
There is no way of knowing how many paintballs any individual will use, as it depends on how trigger-happy you are. It is entirely up to each person how much they want to spend. A rough average for a half day is 300 and a full day around 600-700 per person. You can purchase paintballs throughout the day, during the breaks between games.
9. Is paintball suitable for children?
Parents need to know about the nature of the activity and decide for themselves whether their particular child is hardy, and mature enough to participate in this type of activity. Paintball is not an overly strenuous activity but is played in a wooded environment using paintball guns that fire paintballs that can bruise or break the skin. All of our games are supervised and all safety equipment is provided free of charge. For our Young Guns FAQ please click here.
10. What is the minimum age?
Anyone 11 years of age and in year 7 of secondary school can play paintball. You need to be basically fit and willing to have a good day out. (Please Note: 11 - 17 year olds require parental / guardian consent)
11. What food and drink is available? What is it?
A cooked lunch is included in most of our full day packages. It can be added as an upgrade when booking at a cost of £3.50 per person if required. Our lunch menu is constantly changing depending on the time of year and the number of customers that we have playing on a game day. There is also a snack shop onsite where you can purchase chocolates, cold drinks & slush puppies.
12. Can we bring along alcohol?
No alcohol is not permitted on site. Any players who have been drinking will be excluded from the games and asked to leave.
13. Do I need to fill out a registration form?
All players are required to complete a registration form before they begin play. Players under 18 years must have their form signed by an adult. Adult players can complete registration forms on arrival at the paintball centre, but we suggest you can complete them in advance to speed up your check in time. You can do this by downloading the forms, printing them and bringing them in on the day. You can print them from our downloads page.
14. How many players do I need to bring?
There is no minimum or maximum requirement; any numbers are fine, we do however require a minimum of 16 players for a mid week game.
15. Will my child be playing with adults?
We will try to join your group up with a similar age group, where possible. However, there are often groups of mixed ages (when parents like to play with their children, or there are also older siblings joining in etc).
16. I’m not sure how many players I have, but I want to book now so that I don’t miss out on the date I want. What should I do?
You can make your booking now for the players that you have confirmed. You can then add additional players onto your booking up until a few days before your event, provided we still have available space.

To avoid getting lost we suggest you make sure all drivers in your group print the directions from the website and take them with them direction & PIO downloads for satnavs are available here.
